How to send messages between Windows computers

If you want to send messages to other computers on your network, you can use the MSG.exe command. MSG, introduced with Windows Vista to replace Net Send, is a command-line tool for transmitting messages. When using MSG, you can send a message to appear on the screen of anyone in your home network. These messages will appear without notice.

Step 1
Click "Start," type "cmd," and press "Enter."

Step 2
Enter the following template in the Command Prompt: msg/server: user computer "Message here."

Step 3
Replace "server" with the name of your network server. Replace "computer" with the name of the computer to which you want to send the message. Replace "user" with the username of the person to whom you want to send the message. Replace "Message here" with the words you wish to convey.

Step 4
Press "Enter" to send the message.

If it doesn't work for you, you can download LAN messenger and install it on every computer of your local network. Take a look at this app: https://messenger.softros.com
